IBGF - World CUP

IBGF - World Cup - New concept by IBGF and Gridgammon

Dear Norway. I can not stress this enough, Join Grid Gammon, join IBGF. This is the new development for backgammon, if you want this sport to survive. The world cup is simelar to the Master Norm concept and will be played out in groups. Lots of action and good practice aganst internatinoal players, and chanses to earn interntational titles. It's a new beginning for backgammon...that is...if you want backgammon to be more than a 1 hour hobby at your local pub. You can register for the world cup, for master norm or even satelites to international live torneys at:http://iibgf.weebly.com/  The  concept will be free this year, but in the future money and prizes will probably come. It could be the start of an intresting area for backgammon, and could bring the sport closer to for instance, chess!

About the world cup starting in January, I have the following information:
The tournament  will be organized in three stages. The number of promotions will depend on total entries received. The event will be rated with title norms.
Although the number of preliminary groups which each player may enter is unlimited, no player will qualify for more than two semifinal groups or more than one place in the final.
Allocation of players to the preliminary and semifinal groups will be made as random as possible; however, geographical distribution as well as an achievement of reasonable equality of the average rating, will be taken into account.
The winner of the IIBGF World Cup I will qualify for the IIBGF World Championships finals and will receive title of Internet International Master and qualify directly in the finals of the World Cup II.
Places 2-4 qualify for the IIBGF World Championship Candidates, all other finalists for the IIBGF World Championship Semifinals and the Semifinals of the IIBGF World Cup II.

Don't let me down...don't let backgammon down.

Jedi!
